Top Notch Resort on Fort Myers Beach?

We have some friends coming down to stay on Fort Myers Beach, can anyone tell me if there is a Top Notch (classy) resort/hotel on the beach? We are new to the area and do not know anything about it. Thanks.

Our best two are Diamond Head Resort %26amp; Spa and the Pink Shell Resort %26amp; Spa. If your friends have young kids, Pink Shell is better. Otherwise, for adults, either is great.

Just got back from 9 days at Diamonhead, and while a nice hotel, friendly staff and clean rooms, it would be a stretch to call it a ';top notch resort';. Don%26#39;t know about Pink Shell, it was on the other side of the pier and I don%26#39;t think we even saw the outside.

Pink Shell you won%26#39;t go wrong, only plan for something after 10pm because everything closes down.

Try the other Sunstream properties too -- Gull Wing and Pointe Estero. Being condominiums, they do not have hotel/resort amenities (spa, restaurant, etc) but their condos are fantastic, the pools lovely, a wide beach that is to die for, and nice staff. Check out their ratings on TA.

You seem to know what is what at FMB. We are planning a stay at Seawatch on the beach any tips?

The other suggestions are correct. If you are still looking for a true 5 star resort you will have to go a little south to Naples. Try the Ritz-Carlton or Edgewater Beach... both world class and very close to FMB for your visitors. Ciao

I woudl try Pointe Estero, it doesn%26#39;t all the amenties of resort, but the rooms are awesome, the location is good and the pool is wonderful. I love the beach area in front of the hotel.

We stayed at Pink Shell in July and loved it. I%26#39;d highly recommend it. Definitely true resort.

We also stayed at Pink Shell in July and loved it. It%26#39;s a wonderful resort for kids but even if you don%26#39;t have kids you would have fun. We%26#39;re looking forward to going back.
