sand key?

Hello again!

I keep reading other forums and am not quite understading what Sand key is. Is it part of Clearwater? Is it walking distance to shops/bars... how far away is it from the hilton?

sand key?

Sand Key is just to the South of Clearwater Beach. If you look at a map, or Google Earth, at the South end of Clearwater Beach%26#39;s island is a %26#39;pass%26#39; (canal type waterway) that connects the bay with the Gulf Of Mexico. Just South of that pass is Sand Key. So that pass separates Clearwater Beach from Sand Key.

There is a bridge over that pass connecting Sand Key and CB. It would be quite a walk between the two, people usually will drive or take the trolley as it would be a longish walk. There are restaurants on Sand Key, but not nearly the number, or variety that there are on CB.

Just South of that %26#39;pass%26#39;, is Sand Key State Park. It is a nice park with a wide beach. It is usually not as crowded as CB. Then South of the park, on the beach side is the Sheraton Sand Key hotel. Accross the street from the Sheraton is a Marriott that is on the bayside.

To walk from the Hilton to Sand Key park could take 30-45 minutes or so.
