We will be in Fort Lauderdale September 15 thur the 18th. Would like some ideas on things to do and see. An idea or two on some off beat activites also.

Not sure what kind of activities you are searching for......but how about an airboat ride in the Everglades for ';off beat';? Of course, there are so many beach related things to do here. You might also want to visit the Seminole Hard Rock Casino....

For something off-beat, try Flaymingo Gardens. The large property is a center for animals who are in rehabilitation or can%26#39;t be released into the wild, like otters, alligators, panthers, and many kinds of bird of prey. It also has several ';champion trees';, which are the largest of their species in the continental United States. You can also go for a tram ride for a botanical explanation of the park (areas around the tram ride can%26#39;t be seen on foot), see the historic Wray home, and see the Wildlife Encounter show. The whole thing is a rather low-key, education-based attraction, unlike Jungle Island, Metro Zoo, or Seaquarium in Miami. If you%26#39;re into nature, animals, or the environment, this place is a must.
