Thanksgiving at Destin West

We have vacationed in the Destin area in May for the last several years and I have finally convinced my husband to take our 3 children (13-10-6) on Wed-Sun of Thanksgiving week. We will be returning to Destin West in Ft. Walton. Can someone give me an idea of weather temps throughout the day? I have read that the water will most likely be too cold to swim in, but we do have at least one heated pool at the condo. Our kids love to play in the sand and we will be playing catch and can go to the playgrounds near the pier. Anyone have other ideas for that time of year? Are a lot of places closed for the season? We are planning on having Thanksgiving at the restaurant that takes donations for charity. Any tips, suggestions, etc. will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Thanksgiving at Destin West

Weather is iffy around Thanksgiving. I have spent Thanksgiving on the beach and I have also spent it burrowed up because it was 60 and rainy. I think last year was a beautiful one. Usualy temps are high around 70 and low in the 50%26#39;s. We usually have Thanksgiving dinner outside - so the odds are with you.

We plan to be in FWB for Thanksgiving week, too.

I just don%26#39;t know if DW has a heated pool or not, but we%26#39;ve been down in Dec %26amp; Jan before, %26amp; being from the cold midwest, the kids were fine with still going in the Gulf! The temps are such a gamble, but you can view averages on weather.com.

Some of the waterparks, etc are closed for the season. But it is still the best time to go for fewer crowds, etc.

We have gone every year at that time . That is a great time to go . Weather is usually good . But can get a little chilly . It really gets to be a nice mix . Some days good some not so good but great for exploring the area .When it is not so good . I will tell you that the last 3 years my kids have been in the pool on Turkey day .

The traffic is non existant so you get get around and maybe try some resturaunts you normally had too long a wait for in the Summer . Great shopping for Christmas at the Outlet malls .

We enjoy it a much as our summer visit . Enjoy !

You may want to try calling Pandora%26#39;s to see if they are open for Thanksgiving dinner. I imagine they would do a very nice one and they aren%26#39;t very far from DW. Ther number is (850) 244-8669.

I%26#39;m unsure about anyone who will donate part of the proceeds from Thanksgiving dinner towards charity. You may want to check out the Fort Walton Beach Daily News online as the time gets closer.

Harbor Docks has an excellent Thanksgiving Dinner . It is free and they take donations for a charity . Do a seach on it here I think there is more info out there on it
