Airport check-in?

Our tickets arrived today (14 days to go!!!) and they state that latest check in is 6 am - flying at 9 am.

We have never been to USA before but thought that this seemed really early. We are staying at Manchester Airport the night before but thought about getting to the check in about 5.30 am.

Any help???

Airport check-in?

I take it you are flying on a charter, because of the security alerts last summer they have put the check in times up, you will need at least 3 hours to get through check in and passport control at Manchester i would get there as early as you can if you want to have some breakfast and do the duty free shops

Airport check-in?

I would be there before 5 am at cheack in, and even at hat time you won%26#39;t be first in the que. If your travelling premium class then 5:30 is OK

Get rid of your baggage and relax.

It is usual for check in time to be:

1 hour for internal flights

2 hours for short haul

3 hours for long haul

As others have suggested, get there even earlier than that as security will take more time to get through. Assuming you%26#39;re going from terminal 2 at Manchester, get through security as soon as you can and into the departure lounges - don%26#39;t wait around in the area behind check in.

Ever since 9/11 check-in times are now three hours or earlier for long-haul flights. For the added security etc. They did used to be two hours earlier.

It%26#39;s good that you%26#39;re staying at an airport hotel the night before. It won%26#39;t be so taxing on your to get to check-in early. And yes, if you can get there for 5.30am, even better. You won%26#39;t be the only ones there. Ask the hotel for a walk-up call. Quite a few of them offer this service, especially for early bird fliers such as yourselves.

Have a wonderful trip.

Hi are you sure that it says ';check-in CLOSES 3 hours before your flight'; or does it say that ';you SHOULD check-in 3 hours before your flight';?

Which airline is it?

We normally get to the airport 3 hours before our flight (to allow 3 hours to check-in, get through security etc.etc), but check-in normally closes about an hour or so before the flight.

Our flight was 9.15 and we arrived at airport at 5am didn%26#39;t take very long to get through check in so we had a long time to kill but after you have been around all the shops, had something to eat its soon time to board.

We just got sandwiches and drinks from Boots much cheaper than the other options that are there.

We are flying Monarch from Terminal 2

Our tickets all say LATEST CHECK IN and the time given is 6am.

I presume that if it is a busy flight it would take a good 2 hours to get through everyone if it shuts at 6.

That means arriving at 4AM - I might forget about the hotel and camp out at check in when we arrive down!!!!!!

No, that is insane: NO WAY DO you need 5 hours to check-in before an early morning flight (unless there has been a terror threat the day before or something).

If you look at Monarch%26#39;s website - www.flymonarch.com/cnt/travelinfo/checkin.asp

check-in:

* check-in opens:

2 hours before depature.

3 hours before departure for long haul flights.

* Check-in closes:

40 minutes before departure.

Often 60 minutes before departure for long haul flights.

* Arrive at your check-in counter at least 90 minutes before the scheduled depature time of your flight.

If you turn up at check-in 5 hours before your flight, you will probably have to wait 2 hours for check-in to open... If I was you, I would recheck your tickets and give Monarch a telephone call.

You choice though...

UCC

I agree with UCC, checking in any sooner than 5am is MADNESS!! And even that%26#39;s early!

We%26#39;re flying Delta in two weeks (YAY!) and the taxi is picking us up from Blackpool at 5.30am, then on to my parent%26#39;s house to pick them up for 5.45am. Hoping to be on the M55 for 6am, allow two hours traffic (usually takes 1 hour 20 mins when quiet) so we check in at 8am and the flight leaves at 11am. I really don%26#39;t think you need to worry!

We received our tickets 10 days ago to fly with Monarch out of Manchester - flight is at 10am - tickets state check-in opens at 5am!

We are staying at an airport hotel, so will be there soon after this time - I%26#39;m always awake most of the night before anyway with excitement - and there are plenty of shops to mooch around, breakfast to be had and excitable chit-chat with our two youngsters!

3 hours check-in is normal for USA flights, and I have found even turning up 4 hours early there is a long queue in front of us! Except for Virgin flights out of Gatwick - they seem to be pretty efficient there and have never had to wait more than about 8 minutes in the queue.

50 1/2 hours to go!!!!!
