First-timer to Daytona Beach, what should we see?

We%26#39;ll actually be staying in Cocoa Beach, but will make the drive up for at least one day, maybe more, of sightseeing.

What are some ';do-not-miss'; things for us to see? Will be a family of mom, dad, and two teenage boys.

Also, what%26#39;s the approximate drive time between DB and CB?

Thanks!

We went to Cocoa Beach a couple of years ago and I think it was an hour and half drive. Something like that. Just spending the day on the beach is more than enough. Daytona Beach in nothing like Cocoa Beach. You can drive on the beach in Daytona - you can%26#39;t do that in Cocoa Beach. If you are not up for spending the day at the beach - there is always the Light House in Ponce Inlet, Shops at Ocean Walk, Cowlicks Ice Cream - yumm!! If it%26#39;s the weekend - Friday, Saturday or Sunday - there is the Flea Market. Also Daytona Speedway if you are a racing fan. But I highly recommend spending the day on the beach then having dinner at Charlie%26#39;s Horses or Aunt Catfish.. Have a great time!!

stubby,

Ditto, good post.

We just drove back from Cocoa yesterday and Stubby%26#39;s post is right on!!! Nice job!

Stubbytoes: good job on the post reply. It is sometimes difficult to be concise but you are up to it. Makes me want to be there myself!

Sounds great, thanks for your input!

Drive time is about 1:30-1:45 or longer depending on your need for speed.

Sorry, correction, 1:15-1:30 drive time. A great place to stop on your way up is Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, it%26#39;s about 15 mins north of Cocoa off I-95. Check out their site - rock shrimp and corn fritters are great! www.dixiecrossroads.com We sometimes make the hour drive south from Daytona just to go here. I%26#39;m sure you probably already know about Ron Jon%26#39;s surf shop in Cocoa - open 24 hours! Daytona USA and tours of the Speedway are good things to fill time. Head down A1A to Oceanwalk for shops, movie theatre, ice cream and the famous bandshell. Across from that is our little water park, Daytona Lagoon. And yes, the lighthouse in Ponce Inlet, a walk out on the jetties and a picnic lunch or lunch at Down the Hatch is a very nice reminder of %26#39;old Florida%26#39;.

I%26#39;ll second the recommendation for Dixie Crossroads in Titusville. Great food!!

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is a great destination in the Daytona area.

Ya%26#39;ll are making me hungry talking about rock shrimp and corn fritters!! :)

We just went to Cocoa and DB last month and absolutely agree- Dixie Crossroads is worth the stop- don%26#39;t miss it- you%26#39;ll love it! Also, your sons will definitely enjoy Daytona Lagoon and Hog Heaven right up the street has excellent BBQ food. Also the tour of the Speedway is a one of a kind experience that my family really enjoyed. Have a great time- I know you will. We are going back to DB in August and can%26#39;t wait!
