Welcome Meetings

Has anyone any experience of a Travel City Direct welcome meeting? i.e. are there any freebies or useful info handed out that would make it worthwhile taking time out from the holiday?

Welcome Meetings

They want to sell you tickets and excursions, that is the point of them, however if you are a first timer it may be worth going if you need any information, they also used to give you discount vouchers for Lake Buena Vista factory stores, however you can pick up similar coupon books in McDonalds etc.

I have been to meetings where there have been prizes but the emphasis is on the hard sell.

Welcome Meetings

All welcome meetings are the same and as glamourpuss said the emphasis is on them selling you as much as they can to get their commision. There is no useful info they can give you that you can%26#39;t get off this forum. Don%26#39;t waste any of your precious holiday time going to any welcome meeting.

Discount coupon books, maps, restaurant info, park info etc all these things can be picked up free in most hotel lobbys, or restaurant entrances/exits.

We went to the Airtours welcome meeting the second time we visited Orlando as we wanted to book the basketball trip, this time however I have booked it myself cheaper on the internet. All their trips seem expensive and when we bought the 14 day flex tickets off them they were not actual tickets and we had to stand in a long Q by Universal studios to get the actual tickets. Waste of valuable time.

Do not waste that valuable time. They have no information that you need. If you have any questions ask them on this forum. Why waste a morning listening to reps try to sell you excursdions that you do not need. Any questions about Disney and tickets will be answered ad nauseum on here.

They might be able to tell you how much you should tip the maid though!!

I would endorse the above posts.

We have been to Orlando many times and never

bothered with a welcome meeting except one time on our third trip.

This was because it was being held in our hotel and we thought,%26#39;let%26#39;s see what it%26#39;s like%26#39;.

What a waste of time! I knew more than the rep did!

It was all about selling excursions.

That was with Virgin.

One thing I would say about TCD generally though is;we have just been with them for the first time and had a good experience.

No better or worse than Virgin but,at half the price, that makes them twice as good in my book!

Thanks for all your replies. All what I expected, but never having done Florida before, I thought perhaps there was a different approach!

Only 11 weeks to go!!!!!!!!

Wouldn%26#39;t it be good to go to the meeting and to get a full list of questions to ask them. Is there a continuing problem with the water table in Southern Florida? Florida%26#39;s indigenous tribes? How long will the Devil Rays hold on to Aubrey Huff? What date will the Tampa Bay Bucs start their training at Disney Sports? How well has the renourishment of the Destin Beaches gone?

I would love to see the colour drain from their faces...

I wonder if the Floridians tip these people?

Vegas

One last thing:

No one here much cares about the Devil Rays.

Destin doesn%26#39;t HAVE any beaches...just Daytona.

I have drank the water my whole life, and still have perfect vision...in all 3 eyes.

My face still has color. Man, you are a piece of work!

I have never been to a welcome meeting however my husband and I did go to a 1 hour presentation for a time share. This was worth it! We listened for an hour, took a tour and then received 2 tickets for a 2 day pass to Universal. For us it was worth it at the time. This was several years ago.. So, I don%26#39;t know if anything has changed..

Destin is in Gulf of Mexico and has beautiful beaches!!!!!!
