Hotel recommendation for 1st time visit to Disney World?

Hello - I%26#39;m just starting to plan a ';grand gathering'; at Disney World for my extended family. This will be our first trip to Disney World. We will have several children with us from 11 months old to 11 years old. Which on-site Disney World hotel would you recommend? One family is a group of 6 - 2 adults, 11 month old, 7 yr, 9yr, and 11yr old kids. Which hotels can fit a family of that size in one room?

Thanks in advance for the info!

The cabins at Fort Wilderness will sleep 6 : description :Our newest woodland dwellings are a perfect combination of the comforts of home and the great outdoors. The Wilderness Cabins are one-bedroom units that sleep six. The bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds. There is also a Murphy bed in the sitting area. All Cabins feature a fully-equipped kitchen, microwave oven, dining table that seats six, air conditioning, full bathroom with hair dryer, one color cable television and VCR, telephone, and daily housekeeping. Each Wilderness Cabin also has an outdoor patio-deck with a picnic table, charcoal grill and parking for one vehicle.

There is also a lot of great activities for kids at the campground, campfire sing a longs, pony rides, petting zoo, bike riding, huge pool, beach, stc. You are a short boat ride across the lagoon from the magic kingdom, and the shuttles run frequently to take you everywhere else. They run 225 and up a night.

The Disney Villas sleep up to 8 but I have never stayed in any of them.

The wilderness lodge has a deluxe guest room that sleeps 6 but is is very pricey ( over 400 a night)

The Polynesian, the Contemporary, and the GrandFloridian list there room description as: All rooms have two queen-size beds and a day bed, table and chairs, ceiling fan, and bathroom with private commode. Amenities include in-room wall safe, voice mail, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. They also have suites, which are very expensive.

Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Logde Villas or Villas At Key West. Or you could try for adjoining rooms at moderate resorts.

There are time shares on property that disney rents out to the puplic. There are also 2 non-diney hotel on Disney World Property proper, Dolphin and Swan, both very nice. Most of the deluxe hotels have multi room suites.

I believe that for the family of 6, their 11 month old will not ';count'; towards the max. occupancy of the room, so the hotels that will allow 5 per room may be okay. You should call Disney to verify this. Our family of 6 stayed at the Grand Floridian 5 years ago when our youngest was under 2 years old, with no problems, but perhaps the policies have been changed since then.

Must have been pretty cozy.

On the Value end I would recomend the All Stars Music Suites. On the Deluxe end, the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. The wilderness cabis would also be a great idea, plenty of room and there are lots of things for the kids to do when you have a little down time from the Parks.

Any of the Disney Resort rooms or suites will fit a Crib for your 11 month old.

A great site for Resort Info is wdwinfo.com they also have a travel site, dreamsunlimitedtravel.com you can fill out an on-line form for a free request a quote.

BostonTom, for us - at the time - it worked out great. The room had 2 queen beds, a day bed, and a crib for the baby. I don%26#39;t recall it being too cramped, but that was 5 years ago when my oldest was 8 (this would definitely not work for us today, even if it were allowed). The kids were so excited to be staying at such a pretty hotel (me too!). It was a great chance to stay at the GF without having to buy two rooms:)

Hello partyfour,

Only a Disney villa would fit a family of 6 and our favorites are the Yacht and Beach Club 2 bedroom villas but because it%26#39;s a deluxe resort they are expensive. Coronado Springs is a moderately priced resort and does offer a couple of suites that sleep 6. But Coronado wouldn%26#39;t be my first choice in a moderate resort. The Port Orleans Riverside would be. However, you would need two rooms to accomodate your family. Take a look at the pictures at www.allearsnet.com

I thought I said cozy, not cramped. We also have stayed at the G.F and am aware of the room size. Glad you had a good time.
