Are there any markets or grocery stores on the island to pick up breakfast and lunch items like fresh cold cuts, salad fixings, etc? We%26#39;re driving and will be loaded down on our trip in on check in day just with luggage and that kind of stuff, so not sure if we%26#39;ll have room to pick up items off island before check-in. 30 days and counting now!!!!
best place for groceries
Yes, but remember its not really a grocery store, it%26#39;s more a market, but it is THE best place for meats, especially steaks.
Go to the SGI market. It%26#39;s a place where you can pick up some of the basic essentials. One other place is the BP station and they have things there as well. You%26#39;ll see the BP beside Harry A%26#39;s when you come in just off the bridge.
If you are looking for fresh seafood, go to Dougs Seafood trailer on the island right across from BJ%26#39;s Pizza. He is usually there from about 8:30 AM till mid afternoon unless he runs out first. It%26#39;s best to buy seafood early in the morning for best selection. Try the seafood %26amp; crab dip, it is great.
The closest thing to a real grocery store is the Piggly Wiggly over in Apalachicola, it%26#39;s about a 15-20 minute drive. You%26#39;ll get more selection there.
One other place we buy some of our things also is at the Dollar General store over in East Point about a 5-10 minute drive across the bridge. They%26#39;ll have more of your home items that you may need.
Have a great trip !!!
best place for groceries
I bring some staples and supplies from home and I usually hit the Pig in Apalach and the SGI Market for lunchmeat or meat to grill. I get my shrimp from Doug%26#39;s seafood wagon -
Not a probl;em - try the convenience stores (two) on the island and or The Market (a better choice).
Want to drive a bit? Head into Apalach and try the PIggly Wiggly and or the IGA, both full service grocery stores.
Bottom line, you%26#39;ll have no issues with food supply!
